The highly anticipated, unforgettable new story from the internationally bestselling, multi-award-winning author of Wonder.

When Silas Bird wakes in the dead of night, he watches powerlessly as three strangers take his father away. Silas is left shaken, scared and alone, except for the presence of his companion, Mittenwool . . . who happens to be a ghost. But then a mysterious pony shows up at his door, and Silas knows what he has to do.

So begins a perilous journey to find his father - a journey that will connect him with his past, his future, and the unknowable world around him.

Pony is destined to become a future classic.

Pony by R.J. Palacio

Coming of age tale, Western adventure and ghost story. Pony is many things but at the heart of this book is Silas and the unexpected journey he finds himself on. When his Father is abducted by outlaws, Silas sets out to find him, accompanied by his horse Pony and strange companion Mittenwool, stubbornly dragging his deceased Mothers violin along all the way.

I read about Silas's travels with book in one hand and the other on my heart in (alternately) anticipation, fear, sorrow and elation. I found Silas to be a uniquely sympathetic and well-formed protagonist; a young person on the cusp of adulthood filled with integrity and bravery, but still learning how to let himself just be in the world. His journeying is filled with pain and hard learned lessons but there is friendship and beauty along the way. Emilie

"The new book from the author of Wonder.  This is the adventure story of a Silas Bird, his friend Mittenwool and a white- faced horse called Pony.
A Western X ghost story. Its sounds odd, but trust me, it's magical. Hands down my favourite book this year!" - Kim
