Born to an Indian mother and an English jazz musician father, Alison McQueen grew up in London. After a convent education she stumbled into advertising, later setting up her own business. In 2005 she was a finalist in Richard & Judy's 'How to Get Published' competition and went on to publish the Housewife series of books. Alison lives in Northamptonshire with her husband and two daughters.
